This year, fifth class are participating in the JEP programme. They are working hard to come up with a new product. We cannot wait to see the results! Keep up the good work!

Analog Devices Robotics Workshop
Fifth Class took part in a full day Robotics Workshop delivered by Learn It. Analog Devices sponsored the full cost of ‘EV3 Senior Robotics’ Workshop. Only 32 places were on offer. This workshop introduced students to the exciting world of robotics. Students worked in teams to build and program robots.
This was a fantastic opportunity for Fifth class and it was enjoyed by all. The winning team was Cara Cremins, Ronan O Brien and Jack Slattery. The runner up team was Ella Dunne Byrnes, Jenna Johnson and Alex Guerin.
The winning team will represented fifth class and the school at the Primary Schools Final on the 29th February. They will compete against 31 school teams in Limerick.
Thank you to the Parents Association!
A big thank you to Greg Ashe who presented Mrs. Griffin with STEM resources (Beebots and WeDo Lego) on behalf of the Parents Association today. The Parents Association collected funds by organising the creating and selling of Christmas cards in our school. A big thank you to all of the parents who contributed to this worthy cause. We look forward to investigating and exploring our new resources. Let the fun begin!

Intel Mini Scientist Regional Competition
Well done to the boys and girls who represented our school in the Intel Regional Competition in Shannon today. It was a fantastic day out for the boys and girls. They really enjoyed the day out.
Junior Entrepreneur
We are now into week five of the programme. The boys and girls in fifth class have learned about famous Irish Entrepreneurs, characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, identified personal strengths, identified peers’ strengths and much more. They have also had an opportunity to develop research skills using laptops and tablets. This week, the boys and girls are beginning to think about potential products that could be developed for future selling.

After School Chess
Yesterday evening, the first session of chess took place after school. It was available for children in 4th, 5th and 6th class. Well done to all the boys and girls who attended.
Preparation for Intel’s Mini Scientist County Finals
This week, the team that will represent our school at the County Finals of Intel’s Mini Scientist Competition began their preparations to develop their idea further to present on the day. They completed a survey in all of the classrooms finding out how much physical activity each child does on a daily basis. Well done James, Luke, Cillian and Jaime.
Lego Action for Science Week
Children in First Class celebrated Science Week by designing, planning and making things using Lego. Children had opportunities to work individually or in groups together. Children had a fantastic time.
