Analog Devices Robotics Workshop

Fifth Class took part in a full day Robotics Workshop delivered by Learn It. Analog Devices sponsored the full cost of ‘EV3 Senior Robotics’ Workshop. Only 32 places were on offer. This workshop introduced students to the exciting world of robotics. Students worked in teams to build and program robots.

This was a fantastic opportunity for Fifth class and it was enjoyed by all. The winning team was Cara Cremins, Ronan O Brien and Jack Slattery. The runner up team was Ella Dunne Byrnes, Jenna Johnson and Alex Guerin.

The winning team will represented fifth class and the school at the Primary Schools Final on the 29th February. They will compete against 31 school teams in Limerick.

Thank you to the Parents Association!

A big thank you to Greg Ashe who presented Mrs. Griffin with STEM resources (Beebots and WeDo Lego) on behalf of the Parents Association today. The Parents Association collected funds by organising the creating and selling of Christmas cards in our school. A big thank you to all of the parents who contributed to this worthy cause. We look forward to investigating and exploring our new resources. Let the fun begin!

Junior Entrepreneur

We are now into week five of the programme. The boys and girls in fifth class have learned about famous Irish Entrepreneurs, characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, identified personal strengths, identified peers’ strengths and much more. They have also had an opportunity to develop research skills using laptops and tablets. This week, the boys and girls are beginning to think about potential products that could be developed for future selling.
